consequences
The original working name for this first collection was ‘Sum of Consequence’ or ‘Some of Consequence’. It was an ambiguity I really liked but, sadly, it didn’t work once I wrote it down. I’m not sure when the title first occurred to me, but it must have been pretty early, because the fifth tune is called Consequences.
The music was recorded in around 1985-86 on a 4-track cassette machine in my bedroom using any instrument I had at hand and a newly acquired drum machine. The songs are presented in the order I recorded them.
All written by me, except for Rocking Chair, which was co-written with an old friend. All instruments and other noises are also me.
I was learning the technology as I went. The songs are full of mistakes, glitches and, all kinds of questionable bits. The sound is a bit muddy. The equipment I was using was pretty primitive at the time and almost pre-historic when complared to what’s available today.
But the sound quality wasn’t the point (wasn’t then, isn’t now).
There’s a list of tracks on this page. If the track name is a link, then I’ve uploaded the song. If there’s no link, I haven’t got to it yet. So, if that’s the case, you’re just gonna have to wait.
I’ll get to it.
